THE PROBLEM

Merit almost never counts

In a residents' meeting, the largest share decides. In a company meeting, the highest rank does. Whoever put in the work for the group counts as much as someone who never lifted a finger. And sooner or later they stop bothering. Vireta starts from one question: what if a person's weight came from the merit they built?

THE DECISION

Merit on one side, money on the other

Two separate things exist in Vireta, and they never touch. One is a currency: it can be bought, exchanged, used to pay. The other is merit: it is earned only by contributing, and it is not for sale. Merit, and merit alone, gives you a voice in decisions. (If money could replace merit even once, Vireta would be like all the rest.)

HOW IT WORKS

A merit with a history

Vireta does not start over when you close the app. The community keeps existing, with its history and its rules. Every recognised contribution and every decision leaves a trace anyone can check. So each person's merit can always be shown, and anyone penalised unfairly can appeal.

THE TECHNICAL VERSION

The technical version

A persistent socio-economic system with separation of powers: legislative assembly, executive, appeals tribunal, guilds of validators. Two assets, and only one carries weight in governance. Merit: non-transferable, off-chain, weighted by domain competence. The VRTA token: on-chain, tradeable, zero voting power. Every change in Merit comes from a deterministic, signed and versioned decision over verified evidence. Governed parameters live in a versioned policy registry: they are referenced, never copied. The blockchain anchors attestations and settles the token, while Merit stays off-chain, where an appeal can correct it. The architecture is a core plus instances: identity, evidence verification, merit and appeals sit in the shared core. (Designed adversarial-first: every reward is a target, with explicit defences against Sybil attacks, collusion and farming.)
